CyberSpace?

As I was reading, I was thinking if “cyberspace” consists of real places. I started to agree because when I shop online I feel like I really am browsing in a store. However, then I came across the Second Life section. I’ve never heard of this “virtual world.” After finding out what it was, I was wierded out. I think its weird people want to make little characters online and pretend that’s their life. If someone is constantly on the computer and using technology than their personal communication skills will decrease. These people cannot pretend that their life is in a computer and the tangible world is on the back burner. I understand that the growing technology of today is useful, but only to some extent. I think people are getting obsessive over chat rooms and those 3D virtual worlds. The internet is a place to go, but it is not real. Just because your logging onto the internet doesn’t mean you’re escaping from society- you’re just on the computer.

  1. Your commentary reflects the sentiments of MANY people nowadays, Sami. You write:

    >>If someone is constantly on the computer and using technology than their personal communication skills will decrease. <<

This depends on which skills you're talking about. A person who can only communicate through technology is certainly limited (and more than a little creepy), but a person who CANNOT communicate via technology is also very limited.
