M.O.M.M.

I can relate to Hornby because it is difficult to do things without music. When people ask me what kind of music I listen to, I also find it increasingly difficult to respond because I have a vast knowledge and selection of music I listen to which contains everything from Hip-Hop & R&B, to Pop, to Rock, and even music from other countries such as Japan. I also noticed within Prof. Sloan's audio essay that I was more attentive then then I would have been if it was without music and sound effects. Personally I believe that music makes everything sound and seem more enjoyable. However you must have the correct music for the correct times. This music will be kind of like background music for the listener. For example, when watching a movie, the music emphasizes the emotion and feeling within the moment. Like in a horror movie, the music drives the listener into a state of suspense, or in a romantic scene the music emphasizes the passion between whoever (or in some hilarious cases, whatever) the people may be. I am a living case of using background music in my daily life. I have music for ambiance and for various occasions whether I be walking alone, in class bored, or even if I'm walking with friends, I let music be the director of that which is my mind. My trademark is literally the headphone's I always seem to wear. I wear them not just to keep the music in, but to keep my focus, because without music I can't focus, and without focus, my mind is lost within the world. I am music and music is me.

  1. Nice post.

The whole notion of "the correct music for the correct time" is something we'll be exploring in class today.

Also...the "what kind of music do you listen to?" question is indeed difficult to answer if you like a wide variety of styles.
