i think the episode is concerned more with cool things. it was trying to show how many people think certain things are cool and certain things are not. Like for instance the music homer listen to and the things he did wasnt cool so he started to think about things he could do to make him cool to people. he soon started shooting himself with a cannon ball thinking people will like that and they did. people started thinking he was cool because of what he was doing. in my opinion cool can be anything as long as you like it and it makes you happy then that is whats cool to you.
