Malcolm is saying that it is impossible to be cool unless you already are good. And if you have to show somebody why something is cool, it's no longer cool. So it's really very confusing. Just like how the Simpson's episode ended. Homer and Marge tried everything to be cool, but their kids weren't buying it. I think the episode was more concerned with cool things. If it were to do with cool people that Homer would have been cool from the beginning, but he wasn't. The things that he did made him cool. I also got from the episode that being a freak meant that you were cool. It's really very confusing. I think it's all about perspective. Different people think different things are cool. And you can't really make someone think something is cool.
