Google making us dumb

Carr's mind used to naturally read pages of information but now his mind drifts after a page or two. Now his mind just wants to get to the point of what he is reading because he's used to googling everything and getting his answer in a few minutes. His mind wants instant gratification instead of searching an entire article for one piece of information. Carr thinks the benefits of the internet is being able to find information much quicker. Instead of spending days researching and finding something, you can type what you need into google and the answer will pop up in seconds. Carr explains how a medium can shape its users. We are reading more than the 70's and 80's because now we are texting instead of watching TV. The medium of texting is shaping texters to interpret the messages. Carr is saying google is everywhere and we are relying too much on it. It is making us stupid because without Google we would have to do all the extra work we are trying to cut out. We depend on Google for all the questions we need answers to. Without internet search engines we would be lost.
