Internet, a nice place to stay?

These places such as facebook, twitter, myspace, etc... are fun places for a little bit, but I don't think I'd like to stay there. They remind me of the friend that you can only hang out with for so long before you start to get a bit annoyed by them, and could not really spend the whole day with them. These social networks I think are a fun way to kill some time and reconnect with people you have not talked to in a while or would never have reconnected with if there was no facebook or myspace.

I know some people who spend almost 100% of their time on at least one of these networks, whether they are updating their status, or they might be just commenting on other people's wall's, comment board, or whatever. I personally could not spend all my time doing that because I would just get extremely bored from just sitting staring at my screen for hours at a time. Especially with twitter, because you can update it with your phone, some people "tweet" their every move. To me, this is taking advantage of your usage.

I think these places share a sense of connection to a certain degree, like I said earlier with reconnecting with someone from school or something like that, but I feel like they also encourage isolation as well. For example, there is so much you can do on facebook that you could spend hours looking at other people's photos, wall comments, their status's, etc... I can see how it could become a routine thing and maybe even an addiction.
