I do not think that the internet is a nice place to stay. It is a pathetic way to replace the real world., or reality. On the flipside, the internet is very helpful in many forms. You can use it as a way to shop, a way to stay informed about what is going on around the world. It just keeps you connected about current events.
The internet makes everything quick and easy. If you are ever in a situation where you need to find something out real quick, just search google or yahoo and problem solved. Social sites such as Facebook and Twitter are virtual communities. I have accounts of both. Facebook used to be selective in who they allow to get an account. I think they should go back to this because children now have Facebook pages!! I dont take facebook seriously at all. If you are my friend on there, it doesnt mean we are actually friends in real life. That is why I say these virtual things are a pathetic way to replace the real thing.
Yes people can stay connected this way but to what extent? There is no face to face interaction going on. It is sorta like hiding behind something because people can portray themselves completely different on the web than in real life.
Chat rooms serve as a way of quick communication. Not so much as an everyday realtionship. All of these are informal ways of communication. There is nothing like that good ole fashioned phone call!

Nice post, Laumara. You cover many of the advantages and disadvantages of the internet as a "place."
