Obama's Speech Editing
I think the reason why Obama made all those edits was to make his speech more relative and listener-friendly to the American people. He used pronouns, and even nicknames, so that it didn't sound so business-like. He also wanted to include everyone so he used the word "we" for unity. His approach for reeling the public into his speech was endearing, instead of stern. He also added a lot to further clarify or define what he said. He really wanted everyone to understand what he meant by what he was saying.

Good points, Allison - Obama definitely seems to be aiming for something more inclusive, friendly, and conversational.
