Obama's Speech
I think Obama edited his speech like this because he is a person just like us, and for most of us, nothing we write is perfectly how we want it the first time. I think he changed the word "him" to "Teddy" made the speech more personal and that's what he wanted. I believe that he added the part talking about his friends because he wanted to make it clear that Teddy had relationships with politicians from both parties. I also think, when he talks about the year 1935, he adds the part about over a million senior citizens not being able to afford their needs and couldnt take care of theselves because it hits the listener harder than just talking about social security. I think he adds the words "I know that" before saying many people are skeptical of the government looking out for them, because he wants the public to know that he knows personally how they are feeling and that he's not oblivious to the problems Americans are facing.
