Obama's Edit
This is something I'm not too fond of and can not really get into. I really have no idea why he made some of these edits. I will take a shot at it though. I think in a way he was trying to make the speech more personal for everyone else, especially when he was talking about Teddy. One of his edits was "But those of us who knew Teddy". He is not just talking about himself, but about everyone who is there who did personally know Teddy. Then when he talks about the government stepping in to help deliver. He's making it seem like the government steps in only when it needs too and it always just "helps" but without the people, the government can not succeed when it steps in.

ReplyDeleteThis is a speculative sort of assignment - no one really knows for sure what Obama was thinking, but most revisions are done for a particular reason, with a particular audience in mind. This is especially the case for politicians and speeches. Everything is premeditated.
